It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Easter is here once again.  We celebrate the wonderful goodness of God and acknowledge the grace He extends to us.

 Good Friday (6 April)  we join together for a communion and healing service at 10 am with special guest Dan Knol. 

Easter Sunday (8 April) we gather for a continental breakfast and children’s egg hunt at 9.30 am before rejoicing in a Eater resurrection service at 10.30 am with missionary Dwight Lagore from Mozambique.

He is Risen! Come celebrate with us!

Have you counted the cost lately?

What does it cost you to be a Christian? In our contemporary culture, Christianity is becoming somewhat less than accepted. It wasn’t always like this. Once upon a time being a person of faith meant you could count on people accepting your beliefs and even joining you in them. That is not the case very often anymore.  Even as recently as ten years ago, you were accepted as being a person  in the marketplace of ideas. More recently, even that is not so.  Christianity is given a stigma by the much of the culture that is ignorant of its basic tenets.  It sounds very like our forebears.  It is often quoted by Christians as to how that they would like to have lived in the times of the early Church and how much better things were for the faith then.  Well the twenty-first century is becoming very much like the first century. I just hope that no one remembers to use lions – PETA might object

So what are you willing to give up? Fame?  Fortune?  Kylie Bussetti risked that.

 Can you live a life of integrity, a life that is in sync with teachings of Christ? Why is doing that so hard?  The old nature is a part of it. Although we have been saved and sanctified, we oftentimes retain the habits of our past. we are called to be living sacrifies. but the problem with a living sacrifice is that it keeps wanting to crawl off the altar.  We need to die to ourselves on a daily basis. As we choose to lessen ourselves (and our selves), Christ in us is strengthened until such point as our desires and His become the same. This is the goal to which we strive.

Along with being a church planter and pastor of Living Hope Church in Odessa, Ukraine, Mark teaches English and theology at a Ukrainian university, and disciples a thriving evangelistic English ministry. He is also the director of Seaside Missionary Training Center, which has helped the European church send over 20 full time missionaries and equipped many more church leaders.

The Christmas Dessert and Film Fellowship will take place this Friday, 16th November at HCC at 6.30 pm. Please feel free to bring a dessert to share.

Most of us know Billy Graham as the self-assured and charismatic preacher who became one of the most important figures of 20th Century Christianity. Now, with the release of Billy: The Early Years, we meet Billy as the earnest and promising young man at the crossroads of faith and doubt, ultimately facing the moment of decision that launched one of history’s most powerful evangelistic careers.

Most compellingly, Billy: The Early Years paints its portrait of Graham against the backdrop of his relationship with Charles Templeton, another gifted young preacher who’s faith could not withstand the onslaught of scientific skepticism. He and Graham parted ways and in the film, Templeton comes to personify the rising tide of disbelief into which Graham launched his crusades.

Filmed in Tennessee, Billy: The Early Years captures the feel of the Depression-era tent revival where Graham heeded the altar call, and follows him through the doubt and resolution of the next decade. The film was directed by the versatile actor/director Robby Benson – the voice of The Beast in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The movie’s power lays in its honest portrayal of Billy’s struggle with the ideas represented in Templeton’s eventual unbelief and shows how Billy’s faith, so dramatically portrayed in the film, goes on to change the face of modern evangelism.
